Liberia: Liberian Children’s Rights to Be Protected

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has stressed government's responsibility in ensuring that children are provided their basic rights, including the right to education and freedom from violence -rights that would allow them to grow and reach their potential in life.

Parents, too, have a responsibility to help ensure that the rights of children are protected, the Liberian leader emphasized. Liberia will be acting in conformity with international instruments that protect the rights of children, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
